When we moved into this house last year, there were a few strawberry plants in the neglected garden. My husband gathered them up while weeding out the patch and planted them in two short rows. We watched with great excitement when the plants perked up this spring and started flowering, and then berries started forming. I painted this one day when the berries were first starting to get ripe and there were still a few flowers blooming. I had fun experimenting with the background, using the term for strawberries in many languages.

Ruth, I LOVE this! The background and the accuracy with the berries is just a great combo. Great.

Coming from a gardener, that’s a great compliment. Thanks, Katharine.

I liked this very much, Ruth. And the Hebrew word caught my eye at once.

I hope that means that despite using an online translator and drawing the characters I have managed to say, “Strawberries,” and not something else!

Well, you managed to say strawberry in the singular form, but it looks very nice.
