Sitting on a Curb, 2nd layer

As the color deepens, the figures begin to emerge from the surroundings.  This picture is now in the phase that I term “fairy castle” in my mind.  There are so many wild colors that aren’t in the real scene, even though I am only using three pigments.  But I know from previous experience that once I get the value (an art term meaning the lightness or darkness of a hue) correct, the whole picture will jump into focus and the wild colors will “play nicely with one another.”

The gray masking fluid makes it hard to see the values, but I still want to save those white places on the paper.

I'm interested in hearing what you think!
