Sailing on Cay of Sea, 2015

Whenever I go out on our sailboat, Cay of Sea, I take along a sketchbook and my pens and pencils.  I try to find something different to draw, something special about each voyage out on the Chesapeake Bay.  It is now the end of June, and we put the boat back in the water some time in April, so I have some catching up to do.

    • Yes, and difficult to depict water in all its motion, as it is a study always a study in reflections and transparency, having mass and form, but little color of its own.

  1. These journal type entries are so informative, and give an idea of what sailing is actually like. It’s work, as is any other ancient endeavor. 🙂
What you call “whipping a line” is how I learned to create a tassel. Really a great skill to know.

I'm interested in hearing what you think!
