Watercolor Classes for beginning and intermediate painters.

Exploring Different Surfaces

Watercolor is usually painted on paper, and most artists use cold pressed paper, but there are other finishes that affect how the paint responds. We’ll look at (and try out) hot press and rough surfaces before moving to less traditional supports, like Yupo, watercolor canvas, clayboard, and surfaces prepared with watercolor ground and gesso.

On Nov. 20, there we can continue exploring other surfaces or you may choose the option of painting your own Holiday cards. We’ll cover common themes, mounting your watercolor on card stock, getting your card reproduced, and keeping the image from running. (Please note that this class will be held at SoCoArtsLab, 312 Deale Rd., Deale, Maryland)
