I am participating in a local art show and was looking through my current inventory for pictures to take. “Nothing Says Love like a Rose” has been hanging above my work table for a while and as I have been looking at it, I have been thinking that extending the rose out onto the mat would give it a different look.
Above is how it has looked since I framed it originally. Matching the colors of the rose wasn’t difficult since I remembered which pigments I used, but the leaves were more complicated since I had mixed the greens from new gamboge (a yellow) and a couple of blues.

Wow. I like the second version a lot! It makes the rose pop out of the frame! 🙂
